Job Description:
Occupational Therapist – Band 7
As a NHS approved supplier PPLS Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist based in Merseyside.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· To assess and treat patients within designated specialist clinical area and to cascade specialist knowledge to other members of the team.
· To take a clinical lead in the delivery of the service and in liaison with the clinical specialist contribute towards service development.
· To take responsibility for lower band members of staff and delegate duties as necessary, providing appropriate level of support at all times.
· To assist in the meeting of occupational therapy service/Trust objectives in relation to patient care.
· To promote the role of Occupational Therapist within specified area.
· To develop and maintain communication in challenging situations.
· To accept delegated clinical responsibility for a specialist role according to service/Trust demand.
· Promote, monitor and maintain best practice in health, safety and security.
CLINICAL
· To assess and identify the individual needs of referred patients and their carers, planning and implementing appropriate treatment programmes within both hospital and community settings.
· In accordance with best practice, implement and evaluate occupational therapy intervention.
· In consultation with other members of the treatment team to record and report findings following the standard procedures used by the department to maintain high levels of written/verbal communication.
· To share expert clinical skills/knowledge with other disciplines, patients, carers and to take advantage of clinical network opportunities.
· To liaise with hospital/community based staff as appropriate to ensure continuity of treatment and provision of equipment/adaptations to facilitate hospital discharge/prevent re-admission and support re-settlement/re-enablement into the community.
· To develop and encourage the use of relevant assessment tools in order to monitor clinical outcomes.
· To work flexibly to meet demands of the Trust/service in promotion of modern health care.
· As appropriate to participate/facilitate educational groups according to clinical service need.
· Provide OT intervention for service users which support equality and values diversity.
