Job Description:

Assessor Roles and Responsibilities

• Checking at the Initial Assessment stage that ID is confirmed and they are eligible. All paperwork is completed; signed where appropriate and forwarded to the CCL office for the attention of the Audit manager

o Ensure that the Learner completes Skills Test for Literacy and Numeracy, and learning style questionnaire to identify learning style/social needs, so that the appropriate level of support can be put in place, document results and additional information on ILP

o Registration Form

o Ensure Learners complete ILR’s

o Ensure all CCL Initial Assessment paperwork is completed and sent back to office

o Complete ILP Learner Aims, Learner Agreement, Skills Match and supporting evidence and get signed by all Parties, except the IV

o Continually review the ILP through qualification

• At Induction the NVQ process, Appeals Procedure and CCL Paperwork is completed with the learner.

• Ensure the learner understands the CCL’s Portfolio Structure

• Ensure that Sector Specific workbooks are completed in learners portfolios to assess prior knowledge

• Obtain Background Information in portfolio i.e. CV, Job Description, Job Role and complete Individual Learner Record for each interaction that you have with the learner i.e. meetings, telephone calls, e-mail, cancelled appointments etc.

• Obtain Prior Learning Certificates, copy originals, validate copy and ask Learner to provide a short statement to you and complete on the appropriate paperwork to authenticate the course of each certificate put forward for underpinning knowledge

• Ensure all learners have supporting portfolio handbooks for Health & Safety, sector codes of practice and Safeguarding

• Agree an Assessment Plan identifying Evidence Sources which match preferred learning style, information from the ILP

• Use resources approved by Centre to support learner, you will find these on PDM Message Board and Redspace. Send through a Resource Form to Learner Support if you require resources to be sent to you from Head Office, to support learner

• Review, Plan and Feedback your Judgements of Evidence Sources and follow the Assessment Plan Guidance structure to meet PDM requirements

• Support Learner to Track Evidence Sources

• Undertake Holistic Observation on 3 occasions and apply holistic assessment to all evidence sources, cross referencing in block format on each evidence source

• Observe Work Product and document accordingly – DO NOT PUT in Learner’s Portfolio

• Provide continuity of assessment throughout the Award and continual update of ILP working towards the learners short and long term aims

• Complete Exit interview on ILP on completion of their qualification

• Always ensure you discuss with the Learner their next development step and document this accordingly on the final evaluation

• Meet with IV’s on a 1:1 basis monthly (Mandatory).

• Meet with the IV at the agreed planned times 8 weeks, 12-14 weeks and 23 weeks (discretionary to end of award) to discuss learner progression and evidence

• Attend standardisation meeting as planned by the Regional Coordinator

• Keeping up to date with Awarding Body; External Regulatory Bodies requirements; Legislation and the Assessment Process within your area of Competence

• Update PDM weekly with learner assessment and reviews

• Initial Assessment bookings are to be responded to within 12 hours to your RCO

• Communicate effectively with your RCO and IV on a regular basis.

• Responsible for your learner’s development, teaching and learning. If you decided that you wish to leave CCL you must follow the following process:-

o Advise CCL in writing giving 2 weeks notice

o Meet with your RCO within 3 days

o Handover your learners professionally accounting for all their portfolios and outstanding work, this will be checked with PDM

o If you are not responsible in doing this HR will be informed and legal action may be taken against you, as it would be deemed as disadvantaging your learners and bringing CCL’s reputation into disrepute.

o This will result equally in CCL informing the Awarding Body of this action
