Executive Assistant

Job Description:

Walkabout Foundation is a fast growing international charity that focuses on funding research to find a cure for paralysis and donating wheelchairs to people in need around the world. Its huge success is partly due to its celebrity endorsements by individuals such as President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actors Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Sean Penn, and Shakira among many others.

Walkabout Foundation is currently looking for an Executive Assistant to work alongside the Executive Director in London. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for certain clerical and logistical functions within the London headquarters. The Assistant shares in the team responsibility ensuring that all elements of the foundation are managed professionally and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

-Supporting the Executive Director with meetings and upcoming projects

-Responsible for all incoming electronic mail and correspondence to the foundation

-Responsible for donor contact and communication

-Assisting with creation and execution of different charitable campaigns

-Maintaining donation book-keeping and donor database

-Monitoring all Walkabout Foundation internal and external communication platforms, including website, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google alerts etc.

-Researching potential corporate partnerships and tailoring proposals

-Assisting with coordination of wheelchair distribution logistics

-Serving as the office liaison on archiving and other filing matters

Ideal candidate:

-Is proactive, takes the initiative, and drives for results

-Is very organized and can multi-task

-Has a sense of urgency and responsibility

-Can think outside the box and be creative

-Has an ability to learn quickly

-Has an understanding of charity work and Corporate Social Responsibility

-Can work with Power Point and Excel (and preferably Photoshop)

Other information:

-Salary: up to £30,000, commensurate with experience

-Location: Central London

-Start Date: January 2012

Walkabout Foundation was started by former Goldman Sachs banker, Carolina Gonzalez-Bunster, and her brother Luis who is paralyzed from the chest down after sustaining a spinal cord injury in a car accident. Together the siblings launched the foundation with an 870 kilometer trek across Spain along the Camino de Santiago de Compostela and Luis became the first person in the history of Spain to cross the entire country using just the strength of his two arms. Since inception, Walkabout Foundation has organized 3 such “walkabouts” in different places around the world and use the funds raised ($1 million in 2 years) to donate and distribute over 1,500 RoughRider wheelchairs to countries like Haiti, Dominican Republic, Chile, Rwanda and soon Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, and Argentina.
