Clinical Fellow (ST1/ ST2) General Medicine

Job Description:

Medacs Healthcare are currently looking for ST1 to ST3 level Doctors specialised in General Medicine. Those with an interest in care for the Elderly are especially welcome.

This role is based in the South of England at a Trust which last year celebrated its 75th anniversary, and was rated ‘excellent’ by the Healthcare Commission for both quality of service and for the way it manages its finances as well as rated one of the ‘Top 100 Healthcare Employers’.

Overview of role & main responsibilities:

To provide consultation service for acute / medicine for the elderly patients.

To undertake audit of clinical practice within the department to ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied.

Continue Medical Education. All staff are required to maintain and develop their clinical skills. Individual training and development needs will be identified through an appraisal process.

Essential skills and experience

MBBS or equivalent. Full GMC registration

Demonstrable interest in understanding of General Medicine and/or of Medicine for the Elderly.

Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems.

Basic keyboard skills/knowledge of Microsoft packages.

Commitment to research & teaching.

Good leadership skills .

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses & other agencies.

Enthusiasm & ability to work under pressure.

Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
